Looking for a city-dog oasis or get-the-heck-outta-dodge spot where you can have your pup and your suds? Check out our faves + tips to make sure you and your wing-dog can kick back and enjoy.

  1. Meanwhile Brewing - South Austin - This brewery opened recently but it is already a popular place and I can see why! With an expansive tree-shaded, wood chip yard set with socially-distanced picnic tables, a playground, green space AND a stage, everyone can get what they need here. They have three food trucks on site as well as a well-rounded brew list, cocktails and a café.

Noel & Maple's Hot Take: Maple enjoyed a chewy on her blanket while I tried out the Tender Robot Hazy IPA. Grab some, or all, of their merch before you head out. We loved that she had plenty of personal space to relax by our table without being too distracted by other dogs. We recommend coming on a weekday if you're an excitable or less dog-social pup.

2. Jester King - Southwest Austin - This one is for all the sour beer lovers out there. JK is a favorite when you want to get that out of the city feel without a long drive. They have a large property with a ton of seating options, sunny or shaded, and kick ass pizza. Reservations are currently required, so head to their website and plan ahead.

Noel & Maple's Hot Take: We snagged a fire-pit spot and got the S'mores kit; sorry Maple, no chocolate for you. Maple enjoyed bird watching and leftover graham cracker bits. We recommend bringing a blanket, bowl, and treats so that your dog can chill comfortably while you stay a while; tasting your way through their expansive beer list.

3. St. Elmo Brewing Co. - South Austin - This is one of my favorite breweries in Austin. The staff is super friendly, will help you find the right beer fit for you, and adore your dog while they're at it. They have a large outdoor yard with picnic table seating and currently have a Spicy Boys Chicken pop up at the Sour Sop Food Truck.

Noel & Maple's Hot Take: I cannot stop loving on the refreshing, tart Rosa Raspberry Sour. Maple was drooling over those Spicy Boys nuggets. While St. Elmo's yard is spacious, it is one of the smaller yards on this list. We recommend taking this opportunity to check your dog's gear for safety and security. We love a front or top-clip harness for easy handling or just check that your dog's collar won't easily slip over their head if they want to make a break for that cute beertender.

4. Central Machine Works - East Austin - This is a massive space; a renovated airplane hanger with a yard and a stage. They have a full kitchen with bar-fare and a house draft list full of drinkable brews and cocktails too. Reservations are currently required here. Head to their website to save your spot!

Noel & Maple's Hot Take: We enjoyed perusing the local art exhibit inside and soaking up the sunshine in the outdoor space. We recommend taking a moderate walk before any brewery outing, so that your pup has some time to outlet their energy as well as take care of business: Nobody likes a party pooper.

5. Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches - Mueller/Manor Rd - It is 5 o'clock somewhere with Batch. Grab a savory or sweet craft kolache, a latte, and pick up some beer to-go or to enjoy in their backyard. They have an amazing beer selection including their own newly released brews. Check their website for updated policies.

Noel & Maple's Hot Take: Our go-to "Hair of the Dog" destination. Don't sleep on it, they sell out early. Have a delicious latte, breakfast, dessert and happy hour all at once. Maple says that you can, in fact, have it all here. We recommend preparing a frozen kong with pumpkin or peanut butter and some of your pup's kibbles, so they can be that bitch brunching right along with you.

We love dogs, that is why we're here. We want to put their needs first and we can do this by making sure we are responsible for them when we are out and about. Before heading out, make sure to check the brewery's current dog and COVID policies as well as grabbing supplies to set your dog up for a successful outing.
