Roy Guerrero Park (400 Grove Blvd, Austin, TX 78741) is one of our favorite parks/ trail systems to frequent. It is huge with 5+ miles of walking trails available as well as water access, large grass space, water fountains, and poop bag stations. There is plenty of tree-shaded trail to walk as well as some open-sky areas; fitting for either of Austin's seasons. Although per the city it is on-leash only, keep your eyes out for a lot of off-leash dogs.
Maple needs a good amount of daily high-speed running to release energy, so we use our 50 ft. field-leash to mimic off-leash time while respecting on-leash regulations and dogs that don't love to socialize. The green spaces are great for field-leash recall work or just fetchin' fun. We love to utilize the walking trails for a nice, chill, decompression walk after her high-intensity playtime to encourage winding down through self-soothing sniffs.
